![]() My biggest issue with Pillars is the fact that this is a massive game that can easily take 100 hours to complete if you want to do all the side content as I like to do. ![]() It does all that and it does it competently BUT it does not do any of that better or nearly as good as any of those older, in my opinion much better titles. It also has a mature philosophical storytelling of Planescape Torment and many combat encounters just like Icewind Dale. It is a BIG adventure game where you gather interesting companions and venture forth exploring a fantastical world just like in Baldur’s Gate series. ![]() ![]() Pillars 1 basically does everything that the old school rpgs did, as promised. I really appreciate this game for helping to revive the genre of the old school isometric CRPGs I love so much. Pretty much every major criticism I had of the game back then still stands but despite that at the end of it, now years later I finally found myself finishing the game and actually liking it for the most part. Despite getting so far deep into act III I simply felt no motivation to continue. On my first playthrough of this game in 2016 or so I gave up on finishing it after nearly 70 hours.
